It has been quite a while since my last post in June.I was preoccupied with family matters then.
From 24th June to 10th July my husband and l were accompanying our son and his wife in Sabah.
We traveled by MPV(multipurpose van Avanza 1.3) on a ferry to Menumbok,a small town of Sabah. From there we drove up to Kota Kinabalu (KK in short ), the capital of State of Sabah. We drove past several small villages and towns,namely Beauford , Papar, Kinarut, Putatan, Sembulan, Tanjung Aru. And finally we reached KK around 1 pm..The journey took about 3 and a half hours.
We rented an apartment in Penampang district (through internet booking). Quite far from town center.But it was convenient if we had a van to drive around. My husband and I made a few trips like this once in a year to visit relatives or to do shopping. This time it was a special mission. My daughter in law chose to deliver her baby in KK in a private clinic. Doctor advised her to go over there earlier. First baby usually might be due earlier. Whatever it was then.The due date was 5th July. My husband was the driver because he was very familiar with most of the towns in West Coast.
So, we settled down in the rented apartment. For the first week everything was fine. We drove the couple to hospital for regular reviews. Doctor said still not the time yet. Once,there had been a false alarm. After a week in the apartment,waiting with anxiety ,stress and uneasiness,complaints about boredom. Particularly no choice of classy food around that area. My son started to be irritable and suggested we move into a hotel which we used to patronize. The Lintas View Hotel. Yes, yummy good food can be found around that area and very convenient. We let them move and we stay put because we had just extended the stay in apartment for another week ! It was their attitude about living in comforts, eat classy food,passed the time in waiting,eating and sleeping in comfort. These young people never encounter hardship in life, do not bother about saving for raining days.
We felt very light and easy staying in the apartment. To us it was a quiet environment with security guard house. To be very frank, we feel quite stressed living together with my son. Since he wanted to move out,just take it easy. We could drive to any where we like. We visited my bother and sister in law, went to the few popular malls in town and in the outskirt towns. Oh yes,forgot to mention,it so happened my husband's brother and family from West Malaysia (home town) visited Sabah during the time we were in KK. We had a few hours chatting in the Marina Courts Condominium,where they stayed.
After two days without old parent around,my son started to feel bored again.He called us to pick them and bring them out for dinner somewhere ! See, he already chose to stay away from old fashioned parent for a few days and still could not allow us to have peace of mind, expecting us to arrange good meals whenever he liked.
We both are very tired with Life. Yet we need to keep going....
